First Advent Calendar Giveaway!

If you haven’t heard, we are doing something special here at 30 Minute Dinner Party headquarters this month to share some holiday cheer with our readers . . . a whole month of gift giveaways!

Prizes include cookbooks from Julia Child, Mrs. Field’s cookies, and others; cookware; courses; homemade treats and more!

How to Enter

Okay folks, this is an easy one. Even year, my parents ask me what I want for Christmas, and I draw a blank. This year, this situation has been worsened by the fact that I just got married in October and our house disappeared under a mountain of Crate and Barrel boxes.

So, help me out here. What foodie gift would you like this holiday season?

Just add a comment below with a food-related gift you would like this year, and you’re entered! Entries for the first gift accepted till 1pm PST December 2nd.

You can review the giveaway rules here if you have any questions.

    There are so many!

I would love to get an extra tray or two for my dehydrator, a couple new cookbooks, a Kitchaid mixer, new pans (mine are ancient)… the list goes on!

However if I could have anything, it would be a new kitchen period. Mine is the size of a closet!

  2. Rene Rodgers

I’d love the better beater or whatever those beaters with squeegees on them are called.

Or a 50mm f/1.4 lens :). You know, if the giver is feeling overly generous. Tehe.

  3. Serge

    1 December

I would like a nice kitchen knife set to start 🙂

  4. Gabi

    Newsflash:

Saveur just posted some tantalizing and slightly outlandish picks for those foodies who think they have everything 😉

    Some wine stoppers. 🙂

I’ve been thinking I need better mixing options like a magic bullet or immersion blender or KitchenAid mixer or something. But realistically I don’t have room to store anything so I should set my sights lower. Like new measuring spoons since mine are just held together with a twist tie!

  7. ikkinlala

    2 December

    I’d love a good chef’s knife.

  8. Eva

A 5 qt colander like Cooks Illustrated recommends, a good pressure cooker, a tiny bit of those outrageously expensive salts from around the world so I can do a tasting with my friends, somebody to tell me which Rick Bayless book to get, a bottle of Billecart Salmon Rose Champagne, two weeks off just to look at cooking blogs, rice bowls, a flatware design I actually like, and pine nuts for less than $25/lb.

Well, I’m not the foodie, as you well know, but I know Jon would like (and is getting from my sister) a really big crockpot for Christmas. He always runs out of room in our baby one. I would love a wine opener that requires little to no effort on my part (now that I can drink wine again!). And..a rolling pin! We don’t have one, and there have been many times when we’ve needed one. Happy holidays from the Beaches!!

Felice, We have the gadget that sucks air out of an unfinished wine bottle; works like a charm! You can keep wine that way for nearly a week. I’d highly recommend it.

Gabi, I’d like an old-fashioned flour sifter like the one my mom-in-law has (it was her mom’s), a second strainer (so I don’t have to constantly wash mine), and even though this isn’t a gadget…my grandma’s recipes written down (which would probably be less me receiving the gift and more visiting and watching her cook while I record).

I would like some fancy flavored vinegars (like fig vinegar, walnut champagne vinegar, etc). I also love fancy balsamics! Those are classic gifts any foodie can appreciate!

That’s a hard one! We just got married and received a lot of wonderful kitchen gifts. My husband would love a deep fryer – so I think that is what I would put down. Thanks!

I would LOVE a vintage Sunbeam Mixmaster… and a cute little 1950’s kitchen to go with it. 😉

  22. Hi Gabi, I would like Santa to bring me a set of oils: olive, walnut, almond, others?? I love those fancy French nut oils for salad and for baking. I have been looking for a local maker, given all our bounteous produce here someone should make them, right? I’d like to try olive oils from around the world, our local ones are so good but it would be fun to try others. Merry Christmas and thank you for the fun contest!
